5th Annual Love A Sea Turtle 5k & Nature Walk
Saturday, March 22, 2014
Proceeds from the race and donations will help fund the following efforts – The UpStream DownStream Connection summer camps for underserved youth, a sea turtle awareness & education program, and annual funding for ocean conservation groups who provide for the care and rehabilitation of endangered sea turtles.
Click here for online race registration . Chip timing provided by Run The East. Handcrafted glass sea turtle medals will be awarded to Top 3 Overall Male & Female and 1st, 2nd and 3rd place Male & Female in each age group. Commemorative Love A Sea Turtle Medallions will be given to all pre-registered runners. There will be food, music and the turtle-shaped sugar cookies!
March 22 is World Water Day. We encourage everyone to participate in our ocean conservation and marine debris prevention efforts by assembling personal sized fishing line recycling containers – a Stow It Don’t Throw It project. Our actions on land create reactions in the ocean – good and bad.
After the race, we will hold our inaugural TriNature event – a Pedal, Paddle, Plyometrics race for the Boys & Girls Clubs. Cheer them on as they compete by biking, kayaking, and running the 10 station plyometric course on a 3k trail. We plan to expand this event and open it to the public next year.
