Stow It-Don’t Throw It
Members from the Boys & Girls Club of Pitt County – Grady White Boats/E.R. Lewis Family Unit and local high school students assembled personal size fishing line recycling containers – a Stow It-Don’t Throw It project. I led the volunteers in a presentation of the importance of our upstream downstream connection through marine debris collection. A local racquet club collected empty tennis ball cans and the fishing line containers will be given to participants in an upcoming fishing tournament sponsored by Grady White Boats.
Fresh Market Coffee Promotion
After our Earth Day event, I headed over to Fresh Market for a Sea Turtle Blend Coffee promotion. Samples of the Fair Trade Organic Sea Turtle Blend Coffee from Hillsborough coffee roaster Joe Van Gogh were provided to shoppers.
Earth Day River Clean-up
Kohl’s Cares volunteers led one section of our river clean-up on April 20 and Sheetz managers and staff kayaked another branch of the river for trash removal. Sheetz also provided snacks and lunch for all of our volunteers!
