Marine Science Adventure
Our weeklong camp traces the path of fresh water to the coast. Campers learn to snorkel and experience breathing underwater through a regulator.
The Love A Sea Turtle Student Advisory Board members recently received their Basic SCUBA certification through Rum Runner Dive Shop. We will be using our leadership skills to engage more youth in water conservation, snorkeling and SCUBA diving during our Upstream Downstream Connection summer camps. With support from Walter and Marie Williams Foundation and David and Terri Williams family, the Love A Sea Turtle team will also participate in ocean conservation projects including coral reef restoration.
Jaycee Jamboree – “Water World” Camp Presentation
I had so much fun speaking to 30 third & fourth graders about sea turtles and our upstream downstream connection with water. They assembled 150 personal fishing line recycling containers which we delivered the next day to Rum Runner Dive Shop and Dick’s Sporting Goods.
Scuba Day
This was a huge day for Boys & Girls Club campers – scuba diving! Our day also included orienteering and submerging the SeaPerch ROVs that were built during camp week.
Year 3 Camp Week
ROVs have been tested, tie dye towels finished, scuba class instruction held, and wetsuits sized for our scuba day.
Scuba Diving
Returning Boys & Girls Club youth participated in an advanced level camp that also gave them the opportunity to try scuba diving – they loved it!
