Students attending our Environmental Symposium heard from Dr. Jamie DeWitt (ECU Pharmacology & Toxicology), Dr. Eban Bean (ECU Engineering, Institute for Coastal Science & Policy), Dr. Mike O’Driscoll (ECU Geological Sciences) and Mark Vander Borgh (NCDENR Algal Ecologist) along with a video message from ocean conservationist Wendy Benchley. Teachers participated in a special session with Shawn Moore (Center for STEM Education) and Holly Denham (Project Wet).

Join the Turtle Team in Goldsboro as we kick-off River Quest! The morning begins with water science, a fishing line recycling project, and kayak instruction for a group of students. In the afternoon, we’ll tour the Goldsboro Water Reclamation facility. LongHorn Steakhouse in Goldsboro will be the site for our “Meet and Greet” from 5pm-7pm. LongHorn servers will provide diners with Stow It-Don’t Throw It containers. You better read the information inside the container because you just might find a winning ticket for a great door prize! The Turtle Team will be available to answer questions about our 100 mile River Quest kayak for river awareness.
